John Henderson has recently died, and his children Anne, David, Mark, Molly, and Gretchen are about the task of taking apart his house. As is often the case, things must be sorted, disposed of, and divided. Each of the siblings, whose lives have taken divergent courses, has memories attached to the items in the house. Each has emotional treasures and baggage from their childhood and their relationship with their father. But John has left an unexpected gift and message for his children that gives them a new perspective on their relationship with him and with each other.
